Once upon a time we thought that stress only affected our mental and emotional state of well-being. We now know that it doesn’t just affect our mental and emotional health but it also affects our physical body right down to the cellular level.

Although stress is just one word we use to describe how we feel, the issues that induce stress are many and we see evidence of the effect everywhere.

How many people do you already know that suffer from depression or anxiety, or have diabetes or any number of other ailments and diseases?

How many people have been touched by cancer either personally or by someone they know. Look at the rise in the number of obese adults and children not to mention addiction; to drugs, alcohol, food, sex, work, exercise. Anything done in excess to cover how we feel can turn into an addiction leading eventually to some other manifested dis - ease.

It can be a vicious circle but there is something you can do to improve your overall health and well-being. For some this is daunting and it may feel like it’s near impossible but the good news is, with the right support system in place, be it a medical professional, counsellor, coach, family friends, support group, etc, we all have the ability to take control of our health and make the changes we need to in order to be healthier and happier.
