Relationships

I was at our local grocery store last week looking for a particular item.  Not knowing where to find it, and not asking a store clerk, I walked along the top of each aisle only stopping long enough to read the signs to see which aisle I should actually walk down.

Nothing unusual about that but as I was walking along, not paying too much attention to anyone else in the store, I heard a faint whistle from another aisle.  A few more steps and there's that whistle again. A few more steps and an elderly gentleman passes, whistling that same whistle.

I smiled because this scene was not foreign to me.  My mom and dad used to have a ‘whistle’ they shared when they were out together or in the house for that matter.  They would each be milling about separately but when it was time to find each other, or the call to 'come here I need you'  they would use their secret whistle, signaling to each other.

This was the bond they had created over the years that was born out of love and respect for each other.

A healthy relationship will have you feeling like your partner is there for you and you for them not full of disappointment.

A healthy relationship is forgiving, kind, understanding, and supportive not indifferent, blaming, condescending, or disrespectful.

A healthy relationship allows you to flourish not be controlled.

A healthy relationship is full of love not abuse.

No matter what your age, we all at some point in our lives seek to find and have that special relationship but there are times in our lives when this is more challenging than other times.
